Brain and Language on the Autism Spectrum – Butler Lab

Our lab uses wearable brain imaging tech and naturalistic methods to understand what drives complex human behavior in real-world environments. We are particularly interested in dynamic communication processes. We investigate how sensory, motor and neural patterns affect communication and communication impairments, particularly for autistic individuals who are nonverbal, minimally verbal or nonspeaking. The goal of our research is to develop new tools to enhance communication and learning throughout the lifespan.
